- Green Wire "plate-ground" - The bridge pickup plate is the bridge ground for original Tele guitars. Tele pickups, except Aero, attach the (-) signal wire to the plate, i.e., pickup ground is also bridge ground. Aero Telle pickups separate signal return (-) from bridge ground by adding a 3rd wire. This prevents stray ground signal from entering the pickup (-). Additionally if AC hot is accidentally applied to ground, it's not also applied to the pickup.
